I like this. It’s quite good if I do say so myself. Jus’ sayin’.
The egg white/s give it protein which is an added bonus as it makes it easier to get a well-balanced breakfast because there are more components in just one dish. And it’s just as easy to make as regular oatmeal, no fancy tricks you have to do. And the whites add more volume, making your portion size even bigger. Which I think is a good thing :L
Egg White Oatmeal:
Serves: 1 Calories per serving: 225
40g porridge oats
Egg Whites (I use 1-2, can’t vouch for the taste by adding more)
125ml semi-skimmed milk
Pinch of Salt
Optional: Favourite Sweetener, Vanilla, Cinnamon etc
In a small saucepan, combine all the ingredients except for the egg whites, also add any optional ingredients as well. Bring to the boil over a high heat. Then turn the heat down to a simmer. Once the yuminess has began to thicken, and is a little runnier than you like it, add the egg whites and stir it in the oatmeal quickly, and continue stirring until they are cooked through. By now the oatmeal should be the right consistency. Take it off the heat and transfer it to a bowl. Add toppings if you wish, I like a sprinkle of brown sugar;) Eat it up and be happy!
