As you may be able to tell.

Today I’m sharing a recipe – not food, because JOEY GABY DOESN’T SHARE FOOD! – for pizza dough and it super duper yummy. I kind of just decided to make pizza ┬áthe other day and instead of looking for a recipe I just decided to make one up. It’s also not all white refined flour so its a bit better for you, not that you can really tell, but I suppose that’s the beauty of it.

btw, it turned out great.

I separated the dough at the end into 4 balls, and the the pizza shown above was made on a regular pizza tray/stone with 1 1/2 balls of dough. I don’t know if I should really be recommending any serving sizes here so I’ve supplied calories for the┬áwhole┬ábatch of dough so you can divide that however you want. If you don’t use it all up in one day just chuck it in the fridge – it’ll last up to a week.

Pizza Dough

Makes: one big sexy ball of dough      Calories: 1455

 

Ingredients:

225g/just under 2 cups Plain Flour

150g/1 1/4 cups Wholemeal Bread Flour

25g Wheat Bran

1/2tsp Salt

10ml/2tsp Oil

1tsp Sugar

1 sachet/7g/1 rounded tsp Dried Active Yeast

1/2tsp Dried Basil

Lukewarm Water

 

Method:

In a small ball add around half a cup of the water along with the yeast and sugar, stir, then set aside.

In a larger mixing bowl, combine the 2 flours, wheat bran, basil and salt, then create a ‘well’ in the middle of of the dry mix.

After the yeast mixture has sit for a bit and is a little frothy, add 1 tsp of oil to it and pour it into the well you’ve made; mix the dry and wet together until you form a ball of dough.┬áadd extra water as needed.

Knead this dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes. Coat the bowl with the other tsp of oil and place the ball of dough in it. Cover the dough lightly with kitchen towel or cling film and leave in a warm place for about 1 – 1 1/2 hours until the dough has doubled in size.┬áalternatively you can┬áseparate┬áthe dough into as many pieces as you want and place them on a large greased/floured tray in a warm place.

Once the dough is ready, preheat your oven to Gas Mark 8 and┬átake it out and roll it out into a circle or whatever your heart tells you to do – on a floured surface. if using a pizza stone, have it preheat with the oven.┬áPlace your raw dough on the pizza stone/tray and top with whatever you enjoy. Bake for around the 10 minute mark where your pizza crust is browned slightly and your pizza just looks euphoric.┬á

Take it out the oven and throw yourself at it with no shame.

What’s your favourite pizza/ pizza topping? Personally I love Hawaiian Pizza because of the pineapple but I also adore a bit of chicken, bacon, sweet potato,┬áspinach….. basically everything.

Maybe not mushrooms though.
