DIY Lush Popcorn Scrub

DIY Popcorn ScrubI like Lush, in fact I usually go in whenever I find one.

Not that I usually buy anything, ’cause lets face it – I am cheap and Lush is not. I mean it’s by no means designer toiletries that charge ₤40 for a freaking eye cream, but being the person I am, I do consider ₤5.50 for a lip scrub to be a tad on the expensive side – which is the reason I don’t buy it. The pot may be a decent size and full to the brim of a delicious edible scrub, but when you compare that to making your own with ingredients you most likely have at home, you will see what I mean.

Hopefully.

If you don’t however, then make this anyway because its delicious and works fabulously and is easy. It’s also completely vegan like the Lush one.

This would never stray me from buying other Lush products, as let’s be honest, I don’t know how to make amazing bath bombs and lip stuff, but as for scrubs – soRRY LUSH.

Lip Scrub

Ooh and btw! Look at me, here comes the utter BS side of Butter & BS. As you can see though I didn’t stray too far away from my one true love; this scrub is 100% edible of course and is major delicious to lick off. The sweet and salty combo is one of my favourites and reminds me happily of POPCORNNNN!

ALso, yes i am just pretending to be not awkward with the fact that there are close-ups of my lips in this post.

DIY Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub

Makes Enough For: 2 lip balm sized tin/.containers

You Will Need:

1 1/2T Granulated Sugar
1/2T Dark brown Sugar
1/2tsp Salt
1-2tsp Vegetable Oil (OR 50:50 Veg Oil & Coconut Oil)
Optional: 1/2tsp Vanilla extract (if you really like sweet)
Food Colouring (idk i tried to make mine creamy coloured but i added too much yellow the first time don’t trust me)

Directions:

Mix together all the dry ingredients, then add the wet ingredients and stir until you have a somewhat wet sand consistency. For the oil you can add more or less depending on how crumbly you want it to be. 1 tsp will result in a scrub that is a little more grainy/crumbly, but is still moisturising for the lips.

Apply to lips, rub in with finger and lick off! Apply lib balm soon after to lock in moisture and keep your lips soft.

*This is really good for dry, crackly lips, but don’t use if you have any cuts!

  1. Hi Gaby! I’m a bit late the the party with this recipe (which I can’t wait to try) but could you tell me what the T stands for please in your measurements? I’ve had a look around and can’t see a glossary anywhere… Many thanks! Alex

  2. This is fab thank you. I added more coconut oil and used it as a face scrub as I usually buy the lush popcorn one. How long will it keep do you think?
